Gapminder Screencast and Analysis

Part 1:     a. For set #1 I chose the statistics services (which include jobs like government , financial services, and healthcare) measured in percent of GDP,  and income measured in GDP/capita.  GDP per capita takes the gross domestic product of a country and divides it by the number of people , measured in dollars per person. The development indicators I chose for set #2 were HDI or human development index and child mortality measured in 0-5 years dying per 1,000 born.
b. A country that is more economically developed will have more labor in the services sector.  To work in the services sector the workers must have a certain level of education this also means that countries with more people working in this sector offer more educational opportunities. GDP per capita can realate exactly to economic development. This country will be producing more money meaning the higher the GDP per person, the higher the economic development of the country. The HDI of a country can represent the people's education, health and living standard. When these are considered high the country is then resulted in being more economically developed. Child mortality can be caused by many different issues and concerns. some of these may include sanitation, diseases, and lack of education of health care. All of these factors would result in a country with a low economic develpoment.

Part 2:   a. b.  In set # 1 in the 1980's  it is clear to see that the majority of Europe and Eastern Asia and North and Central America are ahead in services and in income per person. This could be a result of  the countires being involved in mechanization and technologies. They are highly developed and have a good education that supports that services that makes incomes and GDP per capita high. In the early 1990's , China is the country with the lowest services , and one of the countries with the lowest GDP per capita. This could've been because of some ecomomic troubles they were going through at the time or since China is very involved in industry it would bring the services down and result in lower wages.  In the 1990's, unlike the majority of Europe, Ukraine has the lowest GDP per capita and services in its continent. This could be due to internal cultural conflicts within the country resulting in some marauding or run down in sanitation, people losing their jobs ect... .   You can see that from 2004 to 2006 Ethiopia moves from being the high in  services to low, continuously. This may be due to perks of wars going up or down or the dropping from lack of acess to sanitation, goods and services ( health care, ect.. ). Up until the 2000's a lot of Saharan African countries were falling in HDI most likely due to unawareness, and lack of access to preventative supplies from the HIV and other disease. In the 1990's  Afghanistan began decreasing , but experienced a rapid increase and rise beginning in 2000. This could be in part to the show up of the organizations, including the U.N., UNICEF and so on , giving help to the people who need supporting. Since 1980's many countries, have been improving their infant mortality rate, and moving up in HDI . For example India. Haiti's IMR or infant mortality rate in 2009 increased significantly most likely to the natural disasters. The correlation to income per capita very closely to infant mortality rate, because the sub-Saharan Africa countries have less conectivity and technology and industrialization in countries with less GDP per capita causing the infant mortality rate to rise and continue to rise.
